The Groff Landscape Design, LLC tree nursery was started in the summer of 2003.  It utilizes the RootMaker® growing system.  We develop our trees in special grow bags which stimulate a very fibrous root system. This results in:

• Greater efficiency of water and nutrient absorption
• Accelerated growth
• Rapid transplant success 
• Lighter weight rootballs for easier transportation
  

            These knit bags have thousands of holes in them which constrict root growth at the point of contact between the roots and the bag and as a result create smaller more fibrous roots to develop.  Unlike traditional growing methods, a tree spade is never used.  Traditional methods can loose up to ninety percent of the root ball where as the RootMaker® system has minimal negative impact on the roots.  This means less stress during harvest time and more energy during the growing season.  We can provide our customers with a selection of some of the healthiest, hardiest trees in the area.  Sure you do not need a tree nursery to be a landscape designer but it does allow us to give our customers a little something extra.
